Congratulations to immunotherapist and extracellular vesicle researcher at The University of Queensland (UQ), Associate Professor Joy Wolfram, PhD, on being named Queensland’s 2024 Young Tall Poppy of the Year.
The awards celebrate scientific excellence and a passion for science communication, inspiring young people to enter STEM study and careers, with 16 of Queensland’s outstanding scientists recognised at this year’s awards.
Professor Wolfram is working on improved medicines to counter cancer and other life-threatening diseases, using tiny natural particles – extracellular vesicles – to treat illnesses such as heart disease, kidney disease, and breast cancer.
These awards are run nationwide by the Australian Institute of Policy and Science (AIPS), in partnership with theDepartment of Environment, Science and Innovation in Queensland.
