The Queensland University of Technology's Excolo! pitching competition took place this week, giving research students and staff the chance to share in $200,000 in prize money through pitching their project commercialisation ideas.
It's great to see QUT nurturing these innovative ideas: universities play a vital part in creating the pipeline of talent and ideas that will support the growth of the exciting Life Sciences sector.
The winners of the competition included Kimaritec's cancer therapeutics, Bovotica's cattle synbiotics, and Adams & Cusack's lung cancer biomarkers and therapeutics.
This program was a huge effort by the entire QUT Industry Engagement Team, supported by the crew at QUT Entrepreneurship, and it really showed in the whole production.
The energy around life sciences in Queensland right now is amazing, with many companies from Australia and overseas researching a move to the state during AusBiotech '23 recently. We can't wait to see where the winners go, and we can't wait for next year's event!
